Educational Psychology

Employers

CWDC is keen to focus the provision of Educational Psychology professional training on the needs of the employer.

Consultation

The final report of the consultation 'Building a sustainable system of Educational Psychology entry training' is now available to download.

Regional networks

The regional networks are responsible for identifying workforce demand and making arrangements for trainee employment or bursaried places for Years 2 and 3 of the training.

Representatives from each region will attend National Forum meetings. The National Forum meets quarterly to advise CWDC on workforce planning and provides a forum for discussion. In addition to regional representation, other key stakeholders are represented, including the British Psychological Society, the Association for Educational Psychologists, the Health Professionals Council and training providers.

Subscription

The employers subscription scheme has been identified by the DCSF as the most sustainable means of supporting Educational Psychology entry training. Subscription levels are calculated according to most recent school pupil figures.

The scheme has been expanded to cover the full costs of fees for all three years and the bursary for Year 1. Employers will not be expected to meet the costs of fees for specific trainees in addition to the subscription.

From September 2009, training providers will be required to make provision for all three years of their course before offering places. The regional networks will be the forum in which these arrangements are made.

Consultation

The deadline for responses to the consultation was 30th May 2008. If you would like to view the document, please follow this link. A report of the findings will be available from here in early July 2008.
